“Our success relies heavily on collaboration, innovation, and a shared vision for community upliftment.” One of their projects that has made an impact is the implementation of solar streetlights, in Limpopo Vhembe District Municipality, a rural village called Tshinapfene. “This project did not only bring light to a rural village as a measure against gender-based violence, but specifically to improve safety for children and women and better lives for the community, reduce energy costs, and promote environmental sustainability. “Seeing the tangible difference in people’s daily lives—children and women walking freely without fear of the dark, communities feeling safer at night—has been incredibly fulfilling. The project allowed us to train the youth within the communities to maintain the lights, creating employment and empowering the communities to be stewards of the streetlights.”
The village is now called Tshinapfene “Mavhoneni”, highlighting the impact that this project has had in bringing transformation to the community. This is fulfilling and inspiring to Sylvia and in this current year, they will be implementing the solar streetlights project which is Phase two and three to complete the remaining streets in Tshinapfene Village.” Sylvia is also involved in Intal Power Trading Company which was founded to extend her vision of providing innovative energy solutions to both urban and rural areas. “I have hired two women who are managing the day-to-day activities in the company and the implementation of projects.
