This new rail service, which will cover a route spanning 140 km, will be running on a dedicated track, allowing for a seamless and uninterrupted journey. This dedicated track is part of the Western Railway’s ambitious project to create a dedicated freight and passenger rail network. This project is expected to revolutionize the travel experience for passengers and enhance the efficiency of the freight movement.
This statement highlights the significant time difference between the traditional bus journey and the NBRR. The NBRR, a high-speed rail network, offers a much faster and more efficient mode of transportation compared to the conventional bus. The NBRR’s speed advantage is evident in its ability to cover the distance between Gandhidham and its destination in a fraction of the time taken by the bus.
However, the name was later changed to “Mumbai Local” due to a legal dispute with the Indian Railways. The Mumbai Local train service is a part of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network, which is the largest in India. The network spans across 300+ stations and covers a distance of over 400 kilometers.
The ministry has also highlighted the importance of accessibility features for the new airport. They have stated that these features are crucial for ensuring the smooth and seamless travel experience for all passengers, regardless of their physical abilities.
It stated that this modern marvel is designed to connect cities within a 150 km radius, providing efficient and comfortable journeys of approximately 3 to 4 hours. “NBRR facilitates smooth end-to-end passenger movement and reduces crowding in individual coaches. The semi-permanent couplers, similar to those on Vande Bharat trains, provide a jerk-free travel experience,” the ministry said. “The train offers faster journeys between mid-distance cities. Its rapid acceleration and deceleration contribute to efficient travel, while driving cabs at both ends eliminates turnaround time,” it said. “Continuous LED lighting ensures a well-lit environment, and a talk-back system allows passengers to communicate with the driver in emergencies,” it added.
